Every option we know of, side by side
This is not a page designed to make us look best. Some of these are genuinely the better buy for some households — a live consultation beats a written plan when the case needs to be seen, not just described. Read the table, then read the row that actually matches your situation.
If your case is a single, describable pattern
One cat soiling after a vet-clear, or two cats who cannot share a hallway, and you can put the situation into words — a written plan works well and costs less than a live consultation. That is what ThresholdCat, and the written portion of most options here, are built for.
If your case is complex or ongoing
More than two cats, several problems at once, a household that keeps changing, or a case you genuinely cannot describe in a form — that is when a live consultant who can watch, ask, and adjust in real time is worth the higher price.
The full list
| Who | Price | What it is | Who it actually suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| ThresholdCat | $99–$149 | A week-by-week plan built from a sourced protocol library, reviewed by a person before it reaches you. | A single soiling pattern or intercat case that a written sequence can carry. 14-day satisfaction refund. Medical soiling and a bite that reached a person are refused, not sold. |
| Kitty Help Desk | $159 | A live Zoom consultation with a cat behavior consultant, followed by a written plan and 60 days of email follow-up. | Households whose case is too complex or hard to describe in writing, and who want a person watching in real time. |
| Pawsitive Vibes Cat Behavior | $275 initial consultation + $200/month follow-up | A cat behavior consultation followed by ongoing monthly follow-up, billed as a recurring service. | Open-ended, multi-month cases that need an ongoing relationship with one consultant, not a single document. |
| Rita Reimers | $450 | A one-to-one cat behavior consultation with an individual consultant. | Households that want to work with one specific, trusted individual consultant and can afford the premium session. |
| Pet Harmony | $275–$1,500 | A behavior-consulting range spanning shorter sessions through more involved packages. | Cases where the right depth of consulting is unclear up front and a range of package sizes is useful. |
| Cat School | $25/month | A clicker-training curriculum teaching tricks and skills, not a behavior-problem service. | Owners who want to teach tricks and general skills — not a service for soiling or intercat tension at all. |
| Meowz | Free with in-app purchases | A survey-to-plan mobile app, a sister product to the dog-training app Woofz, with roughly 50,000 downloads. | Owners who want something free and instant on their phone and are fine with an automated, unreviewed output. |
| Jackson Galaxy | Free video library; books ~$21; consults closed | A free library of videos and books from one of the most recognizable names in cat behavior. His one-to-one consults are currently closed. | Everyone, as a first step — it's free and genuinely good. His one-to-one consults are closed. |
| Feliway | Product — diffuser + refills, retail price varies | A synthetic-pheromone diffuser, not a service or a consultant. It is a product you plug into a wall, not a plan. | An adjunct alongside real work — vet-clear, box setup, resource split — never a replacement for it. |

Nothing on this page is the right answer if
This is a veterinary problem, not a behavior one
- A cat who was reliable and suddenly starts soiling, strains in the box, cries while eliminating, passes blood, or produces frequent tiny puddles needs a veterinarian today — not a plan, ours or anyone else’s on this page. A male cat straining to urinate is an emergency.
- A bite or scratch that reached a person, or a fight between cats that broke skin, needs a professional who can see the household in person — a veterinary behaviorist or a certified consultant, not a written plan.
- Any question about starting, stopping, or changing a medication is a question for your veterinarian. No product on this page, including ours, gives medication advice.
We turn these cases away before payment, not after. If your quiz answers land here, it will say so plainly and point you at the right kind of professional instead of selling you anything.
